DBDOC-CHECK INPUT SHAPING.ERR

This message lists all of the Harmony analog in/channel blocks (function code 222) that use input shaping.

Input shaping means that the value of the analog in/channel block is being modified by a "shaping algorithm" block. The shaping algorithm block, which connects to S9 of the analog in/channel block, can be function code 1 (function generator), function code 7 (square root), or function code 167 (polynomial).

Sometimes the shaping algorithm block is not on the same CAD sheet as the analog in/channel block  – this can happen particularly in systems where the same shaping algorithm is being used by multiple analog in/channel blocks. This can make it particularly difficult to keep track of how the analog in/channel blocks are being modified. We recommend that whenever you use input shaping, you should document the shaping algorithm on your CAD sheets.

While there is nothing wrong with input shaping, it is not used very often, and the results can be unexpected if you don't know you're using it. We create this list so that you can check, and hopefully learn something about how your system works.
