Installing the CIUMon online data server

Use the CIUMon online data server to connect DBDOC to your CIU and view live data. To install the CIUMon online data server

1. Choose a CIUMon computer. This computer should run a supported operating system, and should connect to a CIU. You can use RoviSys Turbo to share a CIU between DBDOC and another program like Composer.
2. Log on with an administrator account.
3. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the DBDOC Kits folder of the DBDOC installation DVD and double-click the kit for your system:
   • For Windows 2000 or later, use CIUMON_kit.exe

   Note: If you use virtual serial ports, you will need to restart your computer to complete the installation.

   • For Windows NT 4.0, use CIUMON_NT4.exe. Please contact GMCL for installation help.

   Note: You will need to restart your computer to complete the installation.

You can also find the CIUMon kits in the DBDOC\PROGRAMS\CIUMon subfolder of the DBDOC installation on your BuildPlus computer. You can also contact us to download the this kit via FTP.

Installation details

1. Double-click the kit for your system. The installation files will be extracted, then the installer will start.
2. Click Next. The CIUMon Kit License Agreement will appear.
3. To accept the license agreement, select I accept the terms in the license agreement, then click Next.
4. If necessary, change the installation directory. The default is usually fine. Click Next.
5. Check the information displayed. If there is a problem, use Back to fix it. If the information is correct, click Install. The wizard will display a progress bar while it installs CIUMon.
6. When it is finished installing CIUMon, the wizard will display a message. Click Finish.
7. Navigate to C:\DBDOC\CIUMon\Programs. Right-click on ciumon.exe and choose Create Shortcut. A shortcut will appear in the current folder. Drag the shortcut onto the desktop.

Privileges

You will need administrator privileges to use the CIUMon online data server. You will also need a DBDOC license.

Installing more than one CIUMon

It is also not uncommon to run more than one CIUMon data server on different machines. For example, one CIUMon may be connected to the CIU on a particular loop, and another to a Serial Port Module, or a CIU on a different loop. A CIUMon server might also be installed on an intermediate LAN in order to allow data to be transferred from the DCS LAN to the business LAN in a NERC compliant manner.
